PLACE 2012

The ecology of our sense of place is rich, complex and interdependent; an interplay of many factors such as people, the built environment, ownership, culture, history, past experiences, anticipation, design, use of space and our sense of self.
PLACE 2012 is a collaborative initiative of the Integrated Design Commission, Arts SA, the Australian Institute of Architects, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the Community Arts Network, Design Institute of Australia and the Adelaide City Council, to inspire a season of architecture, art, design and placemaking, during Spring 2012, throughout South Australia.
PLACE 2012 is a platform to provoke deep exploration, conversation and discussion about our sense of place, through the collective activity of Local Councils, architects, artists, designers, placemakers, corporate and not-for profit organisations, businesses, property developers, community groups, universities and training institutions, schools, professional bodies, individuals and others.
We invite you to participate in PLACE 2012, by bringing together a temporary installation in a public space (indoors or outdoors), registering an already planned aligned activity or hosting a presentation; to explore the ecology of place, from your unique individual or organisational perspective, during Spring 2012.
The PLACE 2012 group will establish online mechanisms for you to register your initiative, share information and images about your installation/s and presentation/s and contribute to discussion. The group is currently planning the mechanisms to document the various installations and presentations.
