  For much of the 20th century, South Australia followed a global trend that separated decisions made at the design stage from the planning process. Industry practice and government policy have compounded the problem by isolating development as a separate exercise again.

Beginnings

  In 2008, the Government of South Australia invited Professor Laura Lee, FAIA, Hon, FRAIA to become an Adelaide Thinker in Residence.  Internationally recognized for her expertise and advocacy of the principles of integrated design, her residency focused on the value of design and the impact of the built environment on the quality of life for all South Australians.
